Ben Lipski is a C4 quadriplegic as a result of a fall from a mountain bike at a West Pymble local park in April 2013.  To cater for Ben’s future needs, Max Lipski (Ben’s dad) sought relevant financial and legal assistance in order to establish a suitable foundation. As a result, the Ben Lipski Foundation was established in August 2013.

The foundation is governed by a trustee company called the Ben Lipski Foundation Pty Limited. It comprises three directors, two of which are independent and who hold positions in other organizations which in turn are governed by their own strict code of ethics. Of the three directors, Tony Mitchell is a licensed stockbroker, George Caredes is a licensed financial advisor and Max Lipski has previously been governed by and also written codes of ethics whilst Head of Audit at Thorn EMI Asia Pac.

Since its establishment, the foundation has been granted DGR (deductible gift recipient) status meaning that those kind enough to donate receive a tax deduction. More recently, the Foundation has been granted charity status.

Foundation Activities

The first activity was a fundraising auction in October 2013, from which we have funded wheels for Ben.

The work of the foundation is ongoing and will continue over the long term in order to meet Ben’s evolving needs. We have recently identified additional needs that were not catered for in the home modifications. There are also additional equipment needs, advanced rehabilitation programs and future surgery plans to be funded.

Ben needs to be given every opportunity to achieve the highest possible quality of life. It is our intention to assist in this process whenever we can.

Donations

A number of people have requested details of how to make a donation to the foundation.  The Ben Lipski Foundation is a registered charity and the ATO have granted the Foundation deductible gift recipient status, meaning that all cash donations are now tax deductible to those kind enough to donate.
